We just got back from The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival with Toyota SoCal and let us tell you! It quite possibly was THE most fun we have ever had!
It all started with the new 2018 Toyota Rav4 Adventure being dropped off at our house.
We definitely believe in good omens, so when this thing showed up with “adventure” written on the back we knew we were in for a treat! Keep reading to find out all about this amazing new compact crossover, the festival and all the hot air balloons!
Road Trippin
We absolutely love everything about jumping in the car and hitting the open road. It’s one of those things that both of us can’t get enough of. If we could, we’d pack it in, take the dog and just travel all over the country. But until that day comes we’re weekend warriors.
The Temecula Valley Ballon & Wine Festival is a three-day event featuring balloon rides, wine tastings and live music.
Outside of travel, music is another enormous passion of ours with wine coming in as a close second.
So when we were approached by Toyota SoCal to take a trip down there in The New Rav4, we packed up all our camping gear and headed out!
It was a three and a half hour trip from LA to Temecula, but we have to say, the drive down there was such a breeze!
The Rav4 Adventure is unbelievably spacious, a ridiculously smooth ride and looks tougher than ever! We also totally fell in love with the ruby flame pearl paint job!
The Rav4 Adventure was just made for this kind of stuff!
The festival takes place at Lake Skinner, in the heart of Southern California Wine Country.
Neither of us had ever heard of this event and were surprised to find out it’s in its 35th year! The three days offer top-name entertainment, hot air balloon flights, wine tasting, kids faire, arts & crafts, local vendors and lots of food.
As soon as we got to the park we set up camp, relaxed for a bit and headed over to the festival to hang out in the Toyota SoCal lounge and jam out to the sweet sweet sound of the 90’s! Aka, both our childhoods.
The festival was amazing and we had so much fun!!!!
When we first got inside the event we headed over to the Toyota SoCal lounge to just chill out! Literally! It was extremely hot last weekend and Toyota SoCal had big jugs of infused mint and mango ice water, charging stations and free WiFi! They literally were the saving grace all weekend.
Gotta stay hydrated!
It was time for a little wine and Sugar Ray! So we grabbed a few cabernets and headed to the main stage.
Sugar Ray was epic! We danced and sang along with ever song!
Hot Air Balloon Rides
Hot air balloon lifts begin at sunrise and rise into the sapphire skies above Lake Skinner. The rides themselves were rather expensive to go fly in, but they were quite beautiful to wake up to!
Due to weather they have to start the flights as early as possible. Which means we were up at 6am. But with views like this we were excited to get up that early.
We did however get to go in the Toyota SoCal tethered balloon lift which was fun! They raised it up about 50 feet! The ropes were just attached to the ground so we wouldn’t float away.
It was a blast but now we want to take a real flight one of these days!
The rest of Saturday was filled fun in the sun, friends, food
music and cold drinks!
Night Glow
When the sun went down the balloons came back out for a second appearance! They do a night glow that was just mesmerizing!!!
Sunday was country day!
If you know us you know we get down with some hoedown!
YEEHAW
By the end of the three days, we were sunburnt and tired but had an unforgettable time. We got to experience so many new things and made a lot of new friend!
It was so refreshing though to hop in the Toyota Rav4 Adventure and head home! Oh, and did we mention the whole trip only took us one tank of gas?!?

I wish I knew about this festival I would of loved to go! Looking forward to next year hopefully they have some good performers like this year. Also been looking for a good adventure car I’ll put the Rav4 on my list to check out.
